SELINSGROVE, PA (January 22, 2022) -- Susquehanna University women's basketball senior guard Kaitlyn Lynch went for a career-high 19 points as one of four players in double-digits for SU in a 77-52 win over visiting Goucher College in Landmark Conference play from O.W. Houts Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.

Lynch was 8-of-11 from the floor Saturday afternoon, going 3-of-4 from behind the three-point line, also adding three assists and five rebounds. She scored 16 of her 19 points in the first half, eclipsing her previous career-high of 16 points set back on January 11, 2020 at home also against Goucher.

The Gophers (1-13, 0-6 Landmark) scored the first points of the game on a jumper by Belle Carini, but SU (10-6, 2-4 Landmark) scored the next six points to take a 6-2 lead. Goucher got its deficit to just two twice midway through the first quarter, but a 10-0 run capped by a run-out lay-up by Lynch made it an 18-6 lead for Susquehanna with 4:34 left in the opening stanza.

The River Hawks took a 14-point lead into the second quarter, but the Gophers trimmed the SU lead down to eight at 33-25 after a Alayna McFadden jumper. Susquehanna came right back with a big run to finish the first half, posting a 15-4 run to conclude the second quarter to take a 48-29 edge into the locker room.

The third quarter was all home team, as Susquehanna outscored their opponents 23-7, leading by as many as 37 points before cruising to the victory. Along with Lynch, senior Amalia Esposito finished with 15 points, making all but one of her seven field goals Saturday, adding three steals as well. The 15 points were one shy of a season-high for Esposito.

Graduate student Erin McQuillen tallied 10 points and a team-leading eight rebounds, and junior Isabella Schwabe was 4-of-5 from the field en route to 10 points along with tying her career-high in boards with eight. First-year Alicia Goldenziel had a career-game as well, as she established new career-bests in points (8), minutes (19), field goals made (3) and rebounds (6). Susquehanna dominated inside, tallying a 38-18 edge in points in the paint.

Newcomer Grace Meehan was 2-of-4 from the floor, connecting on two triples, for a career-best seven points while her three boards were also a new career-high. Seniors Megan Emlet and Amanda Lemire each had three assists, as SU posted 20 helpers on 29 made buckets. The 77 points for SU were a season-high, while the 11 steals for the River Hawks were also the 2021-22 high. SU also allowed only one triple all game, tied for a season-low.

McFadden finished with 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals for Goucher, while Briyah Haggins tallied 15 points and six rebounds. Carini also booked nine points for GC, which was out-rebounded 46-35 on the day.
