TROY, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost an Empire 8 Conference game on the road on Friday night, losing at Russell Sage College 68-55.
Keuka College (1-12, 0-5 Empire 8) was led by Lauren Hill (Cobleskill, N.Y. / Cobleskill-Richmondville) with 18 points and eight rebounds. Also tying for the team lead in rebounding was Sydney Brown (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy), who added 11 points to go with her eight rebounds.
Russell Sage College 68 vs. Keuka College 55
After a slow start by both teams, Lauren Hill made the first basket of the game 3:47 into the contest. She went on a personal 6-0 run to begin the game and stake the Wolves the lead. In total, Hill bested the Gators in the first. She scored 10 points to Russell Sage's nine in the quarter. Add in a bucket by Jenna LaMere (Scottsville, N.Y. / Wheatland-Chili) and the Wolves led 12-9 after one.
Russell Sage used six straight to take the lead in the second, but a three by Katherine Deatherage (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman) gave it back to the Wolves. The Gators would tie the game but this time it was a three by Amelia Poole (Bloomfield, N.Y. / Bloomfield) to bounce the advantage back to the Green and Gold. Russell Sage would close the half with a 6-2 edge over the final three minutes to take the lead and hold a 31-28 advantage at halftime.
The third started promising for the Wolves. Following a basket by Sage, Sydney Brown knocked down a three to cut the margin to two, 33-31 with 8:38 left in the frame. However, the Wolves would go cold from the floor. Russell Sage took advantage, scoring 16 unanswered. The Wolves stopped the run with eight seconds left in the third, but the Gators took a 49-33 lead into the final quarter.
Keuka College battled in the fourth quarter as the Wolves outscored the Gators. Keuka cut the margin to nine midway through the quarter, but Russell Sage kept Keuka at arm's reach. The Wolves outscored the Gators 22-19 in the fourth, but it was not enough as Russell Sage defeated Keuka College 68-55.

- The Wolves knocked down seven threes, giving them 119 on the year. Their total ranks as the ninth most in school history, passing the 2015-16 squad

- Amelia Poole was also in double figures for Keuka College, scoring 12 points against the Gators
- Russell Sage outscored Keuka College by 14 points at the free-throw line. The Gators went 18-22 from the stripe while the Wolves went 4-7
Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will conclude their road trip on Saturday with a conference matchup at Hartwick College. It will be the first meeting in women's basketball between the two schools in 25 years. Tipoff between the Wolves and Hawks is set for 2 p.m.
