UNE dominates Leopards to tune of 86-33

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Behind 52 percent shooting from the field, the University of New England trounced Wentworth Institute of Technology by an 86-33 tally in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action Wednesday evening (Jan. 19) on Coach Beaudry's Court inside the Harold Alfond Forum.

Jordyn Franzen led the charge for the Nor'easters (9-7, 7-2 CCC) -- who ended a two-game skid -- with 27 points, nine caroms, four assists, and three steals. Abby Cavallaro canned 6-of-7 from long distance to finish with 18 points, and Juliana Tracey hit 5-of-6 shot attempts to register 12. Kaylee Beyor was also in double figures with 10 points and six rebounds.

Allie Goodman dialed up nine points, nine boards, and six assists to support the hosts, and Sierra Tartre chipped in with six points, five caroms, and four assists. Erica Dimmick grabbed another six rebounds, padding UNE's 50-14 control of the glass. The Nor'easters collected 19 points from 18 offensive rebounds, and netted 28 points off of 22 WIT turnovers.

The 12-for-23 performance from behind the arc marked team season highs for makes and percentage (52%).

UNE held a 19-5 advantage after the 1st quarter, 42-19 halfway through, and 61-28 with 30 minutes complete.

For the Leopards (2-10, 0-6 CCC), Maddy Foster totaled 10 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Nattaly David tossed in nine points. The Nor'easters limited Wentworth to just 29 percent shooting accuracy (14-of-49) in the contest.
