Neumann Women's Basketball Hangs on to Defeat Immaculata

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University women's basketball team defeated Immaculata University 86-74 on Wednesday evening in Atlantic East Conference action.
 
Allyson Wills led four Knights in double-digits with 19 points. Madison Stewart netted 13 points. Terea Hunt tallied 12 points and dished out seven assists. Dymond Collins added 10 points. The team shot 54.7% from the floor and hit seven three-pointers.
 
Leading 8-6 midway through the first quarter, the Knights scored the next 18 points to take a 26-6 advantage. The Mighty Macs hit a three just before the end of the quarter for a 26-9 game after the first 10 minutes.
 
Neumann held a double-figure lead throughout the second and third quarters, taking a 46-27 lead at the half and 62-44 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.
 
The Knights biggest lead came with 7:09 left in regulation as a three-pointer by Chelsea Keebler put Neumann up by 22, 66-44. The Mighty Macs were not going quietly and with 4:24 on the clock pulled to within nine, 71-62. A three-pointer with 2:53 left in regulation brought Immaculata to within eight, 75-67. Two free throws by Hunt with two minutes on the clock put Neumann back up by double-digits. The teams traded baskets over the final two minutes, but the Mighty Macs couldn't pull any closer and the Knights held on for the 86-74 win.
 
Neumann (7-8, 2-1 Atlantic East) will host Marymount on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1:00 PM.
