MILTON, Mass. -- The University of New England women's basketball team turned a three-point lead late in the 1st quarter into a 41-point cushion by the middle of the 3rd and cruised to an 87-56 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win over Curry College on Monday afternoon (Jan. 10) at Katz Gymnasium.

The Nor'easters were up 19-16 with less than two minutes to go in the opening frame, before six different players scored in a 14-2 stretch that pushed the gap to 33-18 in the latter stages of the 2nd. After consecutive hoops by the Colonels, UNE took the next eight minutes (around halftime) to chalk up 30 unanswered points and build the margin to 63-22 by the 5:50 mark of the 3rd. Jordyn Franzen notched 13 of her points during the 30-0 run.

With their fifth straight victory, the Nor'easters improve to 7-5 overall and 5-0 in league action.

Allie Goodman led the offensive effort for a third outing in-a-row, going for 25 points on 11-of-14 accuracy from the field -- quite the opposite of Saturday's career-best 26, which was more than half (14) on free throws. Franzen hit 4-of-6 from downtown on the way to 22 points, while collecting seven assists, five rebounds, and three steals. Abby Cavallaro chipped in with 12 points.

UNE knocked down a season-high nine three-pointers (41%), which was part of a 37-for-74 effort from the floor. The Nor'easters dished out 28 assists on those made baskets, including five apiece by Goodman, Cavallaro, and Juliana Tracey. Tracey, who scored nine, paired with Goodman to account for 10 of the squad's 23 offensive caroms, which contributed to a 48-24 advantage on the boards. Kaylee Beyor, who added 10 points, hauled in 12 rebounding to top all players.

For Curry (3-10, 0-6 CCC), Kathryn Dunn notched 17 points and Emerson Cherry had 14. Kylie McCarthy put up 11 points and six rebounds.
