Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/13/2021) - The Griffins met Messiah University (2-0) in the Gwynedd Mercy University Tip-Off Tournament Championship. Unfortunately, the Falcons controlled the affair as they established a 68-31 halftime lead before defeating the Gwynedd Mercy University (1-2) by a 98-68 margin. Sophomore guard Lynzie Eggers (Turnersville, N.J.) led the Griffins with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and an assist. She was joined in double figures by junior forward Haley Crossley (Warminster, Pa.) (14 points) and senior guard Elise Sylvester (Pottstown, Pa.) (12); the former was recognized on the all-tournament team.

Messiah University grabbed the advantage early as they established a 20-point lead, 33-13, with two minutes remaining (2:00) in the first quarter. The Falcons increased the spread to as many as 39 points, 64-25, with three minutes remaining (3:01) in the second quarter and led by 37 points, 68-31 (0:39), at halftime. After intermission, the difference maxed at 41 points, 74-33 (7:40) before the Gwynedd Mercy University pushed late in a 30-point final; 98-68.

Crossley added five rebounds and a steal to her 14 points, while Sylvester supported her 12 points with a rebound and eight assists.

Gwynedd Mercy University plays next on Tuesday, November 15, when they visit Arcadia University for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off to the Battle of the 309.
