Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw junior Mya Shannon led all scorers with a career-high 26 as 11th-ranked DePauw topped Ohio Wesleyan, 76-53, at Neal Fieldhouse. The Tigers moved to 6-1, while the Battling Bishops dropped to 4-1.
DePauw never trailed in the contest and led by as many as eight in the first period before taking a 20-15 advantage into the second quarter. The lead stayed in single digits for nearly the entire quarter before Shannon closed out the half with a 3-pointer which gave her 19 points and pushed DePauw's halftime lead to 39-29.
The Tigers kept the lead in double digits in the third and put together an 8-0 run to close the period as Shannon knocked in a three followed by Lydia Stullken's layup and Maeve Summerville's trey to extend the margin to 23 at 60-37. The Battling Bishops were no closer than 22 the rest of the way with DePauw's largest lead reaching 28.
Shannon's 26 came on 8-of-13 field goal shooting including 5-8 from beyond the 3-point arc. Claire Keefe followed with 10 with Hayley Cange grabbing six rebounds and Grace Kinsey dishing out six assists. Imani Graham led the Tigers with four steals.
Elizabeth Homan paced Ohio Wesleyan with 13 points, while Cierra Joiner added 11.
DePauw shot 46.3 percent from the floor to Ohio Wesleyan's 28.6 percent and the Tigers nailed 10 of 23 from 3-point range. The Tigers held a 37-27 edge on the boards for a 17-9 advantage in second-chance points.
The two teams meet in Delaware, Ohio, on Sunday, February 28, with a 3 p.m. tipoff.
