Tommies use mid-game runs to post road victory

Junior center Brynne Rolland scored a game-best 16 points to lead a 44-12 margin in bench scoring Sunday as St. Thomas Women's Basketball stayed unbeaten with an 80-51 road win over St. Mary's.

Coming off a 14-day layoff from competition, the Toms (3-0 overall, 2-0 MIAC) used a 10-0 run to build a 35-28 halftime lead. A 16-2 run in the third quarter let the Purple built a 20-point cushion.

Coach Ruth Sinn's team sank 9-of-17 from beind the arc and also had a 50-39 rebounding edge.

Tommie freshman guard Katelyn Stanley finished with 10 points, five boards and five assists. Senior Kaia Porter added nine points, 13 rebounds and four assists.

Claire Patterson had 12 points and six rebounds to lead the Cardinals (1-2, 0-2).

The Toms are scheduled to play Wednesday night at St. Ben's.
