Gilbert, Seto record double-doubles as W&J women roll to 40-point win at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – All five starters scored in double figures as the Washington & Jefferson women's basketball team rolled to a 93-53 win over Geneva in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game at the Metheny Fieldhouse.

W&J shares the ball well on offense, converting 53.7 percent of its field goal attempts and racking up 27 assists on 36 made field goals.  The Presidents held a significant advantage on the glass, outrebounding the GT's by a 57-34 margin.

Lauren Gilbert (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) recorded her first collegiate double-double, as the senior finished with a game-high 20 points and a career-high 14 assists in the victory.

Classmate Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville) tallied her second straight double-double performance, as the senior finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five steals.

Maria Lawhorne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) was nearly perfect from the field, as the senior finished with 16 points on 6-of-7 field goal attempts. Lawhorne added six rebounds and three assists. Piper Morningstar (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) turned in another well-balanced effort, as the junior finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Hannah Johnston (East Freedom, Pa./Central) rounded out the group of double-digit scorers, as the senior finished with 12 points on five-of-eight shooting from the field.

The Presidents scored the first 13 points of the game before building a 27-11 lead after the first quarter. W&J then pushed its lead to 50-22 at halftime. The Presidents finished off the commanding victory with a 22-12 scoring advantage in the fourth.

Lauren Tipton led Geneva with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The win improves W&J to 2-0 in PAC play. The loss evens Geneva's record to 2-2 in the conference.

W&J is scheduled to host Westminster (2-0) on Saturday, Feb. 13. Start time is set for 1 p.m. at Salvitti Family Gymnasium.
