How It Happened:
• The Spartans got off to a very sluggish start as the Seahawks jumped on York early to take a 10-7 lead midway through the opening quarter. The Seahawks built the lead to 16-11 and took an 18-14 advantage after one quarter of play.
• The Green and White kicked up the offense a notch in the second quarter as Molly Day began the quarter with a three. The Spartans tied the game at 23 on a Haley Luckabaugh bucket and that kick started a 17-4 run over the remainder of the quarter as York took a 40-27 lead to the break. The run was fueled by freshman Meghan Leininger as she hit a three and converted a three point play in the middle of the spurt. Kayla Ferris closed out the run with a layup and then a fast break hoop with six seconds left in the half to give York the 13 point halftime lead.
• The second quarter would be York's most productive of the day as they outscored St. Mary's 26-9 as they shot 55.6% (10-for-18) from the floor. York scored 15 of their 26 second quarter points off turnovers and had six fast break points.
• The Seahawks came out of the intermission and quickly trimmed the Spartan lead to six. York answered emphatically with a 20-2 run that pushed York's lead to 24 points at 60-36.
• The fourth quarter was the Gina Seifert show for the Seahawks as the senior went to town as she scored 11 of her game-high 34 points. She was 3-for-8 from the floor and 5-for-6 from the stripe. St. Mary's cut the Spartan lead to 19 but the result of the game was never in doubt.
