MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost to Morrisville State 69-56 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Tuesday night.
Keuka College (9-12, 5-9 NEAC) was led by Meaghan McGwin (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) with 15 points. Riley Record (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) added 12 and Sydney Bloom (Penn Yan, N.Y. / Penn Yan Academy) scored 11 points in the loss.
Morrisville State 69 vs. Keuka College 56
Keuka College scored first in a tight opening quarter. A pair of threes flipped the lead to Morrisville, as the Mustangs led 10-6 four minutes in. Kaitlin Snipas (Mountain Top, Pa. / Crestwood) hit a three for the Wolves. Later, a basket by Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) tied the game at 11-11. A late three-point play by Morrisville State would give the Mustangs a 16-15 lead after one.
The Mustangs opened the second on a 6-2 run over the first two minutes to force the Wolves to use a timeout. Two more threes by Morrisville State extended their lead to 28-17 midway through the second quarter. However, Keuka College would out-score the Mustangs 10-2 over the final five minutes. Sam Laranjo found Sydney Bloom on an inbounds play with .9 seconds left on the clock. Bloom beat the buzzer with a layup. At the half, Keuka worked the Mustang lead down to three, 30-27.
Morrisville State opened the second half with an 8-0 run to push their lead to double-digits. Riley Record snapped the run with a three, but the Mustangs answered right back with a three of her own to make it 41-30. After making four threes in the first half, Morrisville State made six of eight from deep in the third. The Mustangs outscored the Wolves 25-12 in the frame and led 55-39 after three.
Keuka College opened the fourth on a 7-2 run, including making the first five of the frame, as the Wolves narrowed the gap. Kaitlin Snipas found Riley Record for a corner three to make it a 10-point game at 59-49 with five minutes left. Sydney Bloom would hit a corner three of her own to cut the lead to seven, but that would be as close as the Wolves got it on Tuesday. Morrisville State continued onto the 69-56 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: It will come down to the final weekend as Keuka College attempts so secure a berth into the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament. The Wolves will host Penn College on Friday night. Keuka will then welcome Penn St.-Berks to the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Saturday. It will be Keuka's Parents' and Senior Day with a special pre-game ceremony.
