Benedictine Women Move to 15-2

RIVER FOREST, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball team remained unbeaten in the NACC by scratching out a win at Dominican University.

Benedictine scored the first eight points of the game with the first three from Allison Michalski and the next five from Hanna Piro
Dominican came all the way back to take a brief 11-10 lead at the halfway point of the first quarter
Benedictine led 15-11 after the first and scored the first seven points of the second to open a 22-11 edge
The lead grew to 13 points on a three-pointer from Britney Pitzer and Benedictine held a 31-21 lead at the break
The hosts slowly chipped away in the third, pulling within 34-33 at the 5:41 mark
Benedictine closed the quarter with seven in a row to lead 41-33 heading to the final 10 minutes
Dominican tied the game by scoring the first seven points of the fourth before a three-pointer from Claire Gibler
Neither team scored for the next three minutes before a three evened the game at 44-44
Pitzer knocked down a three to put Benedictine ahead for good and added two free throws in the final seconds to account for the final
The tempo of the second half slowed down with both teams tightening up on defense
The 48 points marked the second lowest total of the year
Benedictine remains the only unbeaten team in the NACC with a two-game lead over everyone else after running through three straight games against top of the conference teams
The team has won a season best eight games in a row
