Hartford, Conn. – Senior tri-captain Peace Kabari (Manchester, N.H.) had 22 points, nine rebounds, five steals, three assists, and a blocked shot to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 77-58 victory over the Wesleyan University Cardinals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's basketball action this evening at Silloway Gymnasium.  Trinity improves to 12-4 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC  with its third win in a row, while the Cardinals drop to 8-7 overall and with their fifth-consecutive setback.  Both teams play NESCAC rival Connecticut College next.  Wesleyan visits the Camels on Sunday at 3 p.m. and Trinity hosts them on Saturday, January 25 at 3 p.m.

Trinity trailed for much of the first quarter but turned an 18-10 deficit into a 19-18 lead with a 9-0 run over the final 1:41 before the first break.  Kabari scored seven in a row on a jumper, a layup, and three free throws, and first-year guard Madison Stevens (Burlington, Conn.) closed the quarter with a jumper.  The teams played close for the majority of the second stanza, until Trinity scored eight of the last 10 points before halftime to lead, 35-30.  Bantam rookie Bria Fuller (Springdale, Md.) scored four of the eight. 

Kabari and sophomore guard Bailey Hyland (Broad Brook, Conn.) combined for the first nine points of the third quarter, and Trinity led, 44-30, with 7:24 on the clock.  Wesleyan battled back and trailed, 48-44, on a three-pointer by Caleigh Ryan (New York, N.Y.) at the 4:14 mark, but Trinity scored six of the next eight before the final break including four by Hyland. Trinity pushed its advantage up over 10 points for good on a Fuller trey with 5:523 left in the game.

Hyland and Fuller joined Kabari in double digits in scoring for Trinity with 18 and 15 points, respectively, while Hyland also had seven boards.  Trinity sophomore center Elizabeth Althoff (Staten Island, N.Y.) grabbed five rebounds and blocked five shots, while Stevens and senior tri-captain center Emily Peters (North Attleboro, Mass.) also pulled down five rebounds for the Bantams.  Trinity shot 48.1 percent from the floor (25-52) and made 24 free throws in 32 tries (75%) while turning Wesleyan over 21 times.  Ryan paced the home squad with 19 points, a game-high 11 rebounds, five assists, and two blocks, while Maddie Clark (Contoocook, N.H.) scored 18 points, and Marina Petruzzi (Clairton, Pa.) added 10 points.
