MILTON, Mass. -- The University of New England women's basketball team closed on a 13-3 run to capture a 61-48 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win over Curry College on Thursday evening (Jan. 9) at Katz Gymnasium.
With their third straight result, the Nor'easters (11-3) now stand at 5-0 in league games.
Jocelyn Chaput led the way with 13 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Sadie Nelson added 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor, and Kaylee Beyor registered nine points with seven caroms. Faith Connors tossed in another seven points.
Kristyanna Remillard matched the game high of 13 points to pace Curry (3-10, 1-3 CCC) off the bench. Kaitlynn Smith tallied nine points and Kirsten Smith went for eight points with eight rebounds.
The Colonels jumped out to a 10-4 edge, but eight in-a-row brought UNE right back. The Nor'easters established a 24-17 cushion in the 2nd quarter, however things were deadlocked at 30-30 by halftime. The visitors took the lead for good at 35-34 early in the 3rd, but didn't begin to really extend the advantage until the 7:31 mark of the 4th.
UNE held Curry to 27 percent shooting in the game (14-for-52), and controlled the boards by a 46-36 margin.
