No. 4 Hope knocks off reigning MIAA champion Trine, remains unbeaten

A game-ending 7-0 run propelled the fourth-ranked Hope College women's basketball team to a 58-51 victory at Trine University, last season's MIAA champion, on Saturday in Angola, Indiana.
 
The Flying Dutch (13-0 overall) took over sole possession of the MIAA lead with a 4-0 league record.
 
Forwards Ashleigh Thomas and Olivia Voskuil (Holland Christian HS) topped Hope in scoring with a season-high 14 and 12 points, respectively. Thomas also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds and shared team-high honors with three assists.
 
A 3 from junior guard Sydney Muller (Grand Rapids Christian HS) with 2 minutes, 1 second remaining started the decisive run. A Thomas jumper and two free throws from sophomore guard Kasey DeSmit (Hudsonville HS) closed the scoring for the Flying Dutch.
 
Hope's next game is Wednesday, January 8 at Kalamazoo College.
