DeSales Too Much For Gwynedd Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy fell at the hands of 104-66 #8/#9 DeSales, 104-66, on Saturday afternoon at The Griffin Complex.  

Shannon Carroll highlighted the Griffins as the junior totaled 11 points and nine rebounds and tied career highs with three blocks and three steals. Tamia Wessels also netted 11 while Cayla Sharkey kicked in 10.

The Bulldogs had five players in double figures led by Averi Jordan with a game-high 26. DeSales, which shot over 52% in three of the four quarters played, used 34 turnovers that led to 43 points. Samantha Shinkus filled out the stat sheet with 19 points, nine assists, six steals, and five rebounds.

The Griffins shot 6-of-20 in the first quarter, including a 1-for-7 effort from downtown, which helped allow DeSales to lead 28-15 after the first 10 minutes. The Bulldogs were able to stretch their lead heading into the lockerrom (51-33) at the break which they would hold for the remainder of the contest.

GMercyU totaled seven blocks, three from Carroll, a pair from Sharkey and one each from Chyanne Fine and Haley Crossley. Fine added three steals while Haley Crossley pulled down nine boards.

The team is right back at it on Tuesday when they play at Alvernia in a 7 p.m. tip.
