Sewanee Women’s Basketball Falls in Season Opener

DECATUR, Ga. - The Sewanee women's basketball team dropped the season opener of the 2019-20 season on Friday night to Maryville, 74-48, at the Agnes Scott Tip-Off Classic from Woodruff Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Maryville had command from the tip in the opener for both teams. The Scots had a 9-2 lead with over four minutes left in the period en route to a 27-10 first quarter.

-Sewanee outscored their opponent in the second quarter, 18-16, thanks to five made free throws in the period, but it was a 43-28 score at the break.

-The Scots used an 18-9 run in the third period to seal the contest away.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Kinsley Logan and Camryn Broussard posted nine points each to lead the Tigers.

-Ellie Treanton corralled 10 rebounds, while Raquel Waller and Bella Bombassi added eight points each.

MARYVILLE KEY STATISTICS
-Klaire Varney and Courtney Carruthers each had 21 points for the Scots.

-Elsa Eckenrod gave Maryville with eight rebounds and added eight points.

Sewanee will next face Agnes Scott in the final day of the Classic on Saturday afternoon.
