RADNOR, Pa. – Despite a 20-point, 14-rebound effort by senior Danielle Parker (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan), a fourth quarter run lifted New York University past the W&J women's basketball team, 52-42, in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Quarterfinals at Cabrini University. 
 
The double-double performance was the ninth of the season and 23rd career for Parker. In program history, Parker ranks seventh in points (1,363), sixth in rebounds (830) and third in blocks (125) during 111 career games. 
 
Things started well for W&J, as the Red and Black scored the first five points and extended the lead to 9-3 after a layup by sophomore forward Alie Seto (Allison, Pa./Brownsville). 
 
A few minutes later, back-to-back baskets by freshman guard Aleena McDaniel (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) and sophomore guard Hannah Johnston (East Freedom, Pa./Central) helped increase the W&J lead to 13-7. However, the Violets scored the final five points of the quarter to cut the deficit to 13-12 after 10 minutes. 
 
Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter, as neither team could reach double figures in the period. Ultimately, NYU outscored W&J by a 9-6 margin in the second to take a 21-19 lead into halftime. 
 
A basket by NYU extended the lead to five points (31-26) with 2:18 left in the third quarter. However, Parker played like a player who didn't want it to be her last game. The senior drained back-to-back three-pointers before adding a layup to give W&J the lead in the closing seconds of the third. 
 
After Parker recorded eight straight points to give W&J a 34-31 lead after three, the Violets outscored the Presidents by a 21-8 margin over the final 10 minutes to earn the comeback victory. 
 
A layup by Seto tied the score at 36-36 with 7:50 to play. However, NYU answered with nine straight points, holding W&J scoreless for more than five minutes to take a 45-36 lead at the 2:40 mark. 
 
Sophomore forward Maria Lawhorne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) stopped the run with a layup and free throw, cutting the deficit to 45-39 with 2:17 left. However, the Presidents would get no closer as NYU closed the game out in the final minute. 
 
Aside from Parker's strong performance, Seto finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Only three other Presidents recorded points in the contest, as Lawhorne tallied five points and six rebounds. 
 
Turnovers plagued the Presidents in the loss, as W&J committed 19 while NYU coughed it up just five times in the victory. 
 
Foul trouble also played a factor, as W&J played a large chunk of the fourth quarter without freshman guard Kylie McKennen (Triadelphia, W.Va./Wheeling Park), who was saddled with four fouls after three quarters of play.  
 
The loss concludes W&J concludes the season with a 20-8 overall record, while NYU improves to 16-10 overall. The Violets advance to Saturday's ECAC Tournament Semifinals.
