JACKSON, Miss. - The Sewanee women's basketball team saw its season come to an end on Friday in the 2019 Southern Athletic Association Women's Basketball Tournament, as the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe defeated the Tigers, 61-56, inside the Hangar Dome on the campus of Millsaps College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Petrels came out shooting in the opening quarter, shooting 7-of-13 from the floor and led 15-5 after one period.
-After each team dropped 14 points in the second quarter, the 2-seed in Oglethorpe led 29-19 at the break.
-The Tigers went to work in the second half to get back in the contest. In the third, the Tigers made it a six-point affair, 36-30, but the Petrels attempted to pull away late in the quarter and made the lead 13, 47-33 after 30 minutes of play.
-The lead got as high as 17 early in the fourth quarter, but the Purple and Gold went to work. Trailing by 15 with 3:35 left in regulation, the Tigers went on a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to five points, 59-54, with 90 seconds remaining.
-Sewanee made it a two-possession game, 60-56, with nine seconds left, but a Jada Triplett free throw with eight seconds left ended Sewanee's season.
NEW LEADER ATOP THE ASSIST LEADERBOARD
-Senior Sue Kim dished out three dimes in the contest for 372 in her career. She surpassed Kayla Goodwin (C'02), who had 371 from 1999-2002.
-The Knoxville, Tenn. native finished the season with 113 dimes, a new career-best for Kim.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Bella Taylor led the Tigers with 14 points. The senior finishes her career with 1,593 points for second-most in school history. She passed Sophie Brawner's (C'83) 1,589 in the contest Friday night.
-Sue Kim added 11 points, while Abby Young added seven boards.
OGLETHORPE KEY STATISTICS
-Jada Triplett recorded 15 points to lead all scorers, while Lauren Ransom posted 10 boards.
