UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's basketball team opened the game on an 18-2 run, but couldn't overcome John Carroll University's 20 offensive rebounds as the Blue Streaks claimed the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournament quarterfinal 76-70 on Tuesday evening.

The Quakers, who lost to the Blue Streaks 56-45 at Hermann Court three days earlier, scored 18 of the game's first 20 points including seven points from McKayla Binkley. A Kennedy Lewis triple at the 5:38 mark capped the run. Wilmington would open a 17-point lead late in the quarter, but a Shmoo Pryor triple with nine seconds left in the quarter put the hosts down 25-14 after one.

Throughout the second quarter, the Blue Streaks battled back to within a single point on a Kahrin Spear layup with 41 seconds to play in the half, but a Hannah Binkley triple put Wilmington ahead 37-33 at halftime. The third quarter was much like the second as JCU took its first lead, 49-47, with 1:41 to play. Hannah Binkley once again closed out the period with a basket getting the Quakers within four (55-51).

Wilmington kept battling and eventually tied the game 63-63 on a McKayla Binkley layup with 4:08 to go. The Quakers wouldn't get the ball back with a chance to take the lead, however, as a Dani Carlson triple on the ensuing possession sparked a 7-0 run from JCU that would seal the game.

The Quakers shot 49.2 percent (29-of-59) from the floor compared to 36.0 percent (27-of-75) for the Blue Streaks. JCU made three more triples as well as seven more free throws. Additionally, the hosts won the rebounding battle 46-38 behind a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds.

Individually, McKayla Binkley led all scorers with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting while Mackenzie Campbell, Hannah Binkley and Lewis also scored in double figures. Campbell, who led Wilmington in rebounding with seven boards, concludes her career ninth in program history in scoring with 1,375 points.

Spear led JCU with 20 points including three assists and three steals. A trio of Blue Streaks – Chelbi Graham, Abby Adler and Olivia Nagy – all contributed 10 points.

Wilmington concludes its 2018-19 season with an 11-16 overall record and a 6-12 mark in conference competition.
