#16 DeSales Finishes Regular Season with 18th Straight Win, 80-53 over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (February 16, 2019) - The #12/16 ranked DeSales University women's basketball team earned its 18th straight win finishing up the regular season schedule with an 80-53 win over Delaware Valley University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

  • DSU extends its school-record winning streak to 18-straight and also increases its home winning streak to 17-straight.

  • DeSales methodically built a seven-point first quarter lead after a 3 from freshman Samantha Shinkus with 52 seconds left and extended that advantage to 14 at the half, finishing the second quarter on a 6-0 run on five points from senior Morgan Birmelin.
  • The Bulldogs put the game away in the third quarter, finishing the quarter on a 15-0 run to extend a 13-point advantage into a 63-35 lead after three quarters of play.
  • Senior Bridget Walsh and junior Molly Jansco each had four points during the 15-0 spurt to end the third quarter.
  • The lead peaked at 29 points twice before the 27-point final tally.

Top Bulldog Performers

  • Three players scored in double digits led by Shinkus with 15 points, hitting four 3's.
  • Birmelin finished one assist shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.
  • Freshman Averi Jordan had 12 points and nine rebounds in the win.

For the Foes

  • Lauren Moretti led all scorers with 20 points for the Aggies.
  • Domanique Moser, Ashley Smink, and Danielle Skedzielewski all had 10 points in the loss.
