SCRANTON, Pa. - The Marymount University women's basketball team sealed up a first-round bye in the first-ever Atlantic East Conference tournament on Saturday afternoon with a 67-54 victory over Marywood University, moving its conference tally to 9-1. 

With two games left in the regular season, the Saints and Cabrini University have already sealed up the top two spots, but the No. 1 seed is still up for grabs between the two squads. Marymount finishes out the season at home with Wesley College on Wednesday night and a big matchup on Saturday against the Cavaliers. The Cavs have Neumann University at home on Wednesday night before the trip to Arlington on Saturday. 

Saturday's matchup against the Pacers was a clash between two of the top three teams in the league rankings, as the Saints sit at No. 2 and the Pacers at No. 3. That's the way it held by the end of the game, as Marymount held onto a lead throughout the game to take the final decision and solidify the first-round bye. 

Leading the way were 20-point performances by the Saints' two leading scorers this season, junior Regan Lohr with a game-high 25 points and freshman Katie McShea with 21 points. Lohr tied her career high in points, while shooting 50 percent from the floor with five three pointers. McShea, notching her eighth double-double of her first collegiate season with 10 rebounds, shot 66.7 percent from the floor in the game to mark her fifth game this season with 20-plus points.

It was an early lead in the game that pushed the Saints to success, building up a 22-10 lead through the first quarter. Although the Pacers found themselves down by their largest deficit of 18 in the second quarter, they fought back into the game by the final 10 minutes, getting as close as seven with 8:24 remaining. 

However, Marymount held its composure with an 8-2 run to close out the game to take the 13-point victory. 

Senior Tyffani McQueen, who is just 22 points away from her 1,000-point milestone, added eight points while junior Gabriella Haddad tied McShea for a team-high 10 rebounds. Sophomore Kathryn Ryan used a well-rounded game to total a career-high five assists, five rebounds, four points, two steals, and a block.

The Saints round out the regular season at home for the final two games, starting with Wesley on Wednesday, February 13 for the team's annual Play4Kay Pink game in the Converse Family Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
