SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Five players scored in double figures as the Union College women's basketball team dominated Bard College on the way to an 89-37 victory in a Liberty League matchup at the Viniar Athletic Center on Wednesday night.

For Union (11-5, 7-4 Liberty League), the 89 points scored are the most in a game since a 95-54 win over SUNY Institute of Technology on December 4, 2008.

Union was led on offense by senior forwards Nicole Conley and Sophie Borg. Conley was dynamic on both sides of the floor, ending the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds and six assists, while Borg added 19 points, six rebounds and two blocks. Alongside the seniors, the Dutchwomen featured three other double digit scorers to ignite the offense, led by freshman Laura Vinton with 15 points and 12 rebounds for her first collegiate double-double.

In the first quarter, the Dutchwomen started off hot with a 12-2 run in the opening six minutes. Union dominated the quarter on both ends, holding Bard to only four points the rest of the period as the score ended 16-6. Entering the second quarter with a 10-point lead, Union kept its foot on the gas, outscoring Bard 21-14. Heading into the locker room, the Dutchwomen had a 17-point lead as Conley banked home an off-balanced buzzer-beater from near half court to make the score 37-20.

In the first half, Union's offense came from all over as six players scored five or more points. The Dutchwomen relied heavily upon great post play, as the team scored 18 first-half points in the paint and held a 28-18 rebound advantage over Bard.

To open the second half, Union continued to control the pace of play as the Dutchwomen started on a 13-0 run that was capped by a three from junior Joana Santos. Union's offense continued to roll with 31 points in the quarter, including 24 coming in the paint. On the other side of the ball, the Dutchwomen's defense stunted the Raptors offense for a third straight quarter holding them to only 3-of-11 shooting and forcing seven turnovers.

In the final frame of play, Union finished the contest holding the Raptors to 1-of-10 shooting from the field. The Dutchwomen looked to the reserves for help as Union had 12 points off the bench and dominated the post with a rebound advantage of 12-5.

For the game, Union shot 47.3 percent (35 of 74) from the field while limiting Bard to 23.5 percent (12 of 51) shooting. The Dutchwomen also cleaned up on the glass, posting a 55-27 edge in boards and outscoring the Raptors 56-18 in the paint.

Union's next game will take place on Friday against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at the Viniar Athletic Center on Friday starting at 5 p.m.
