New England College Soars Past Becker College, 75-50

HENNIKER, N.H. - The New England College women's basketball team use a full team effort, as they defeated Becker College 75-50 in New England College Conference action, Saturday afternoon in Bridges Gym.   

Following the game, the Pilgrims improve to 11-7 and 10-2 in NECC action, while the Hawks drop to 13-6 and 10-2 in conference play.

NEC LEADERS 
Rene Hudson led the Pilgrims in both points (15) and rebounds (7), while Jaz Laracuente recorded double-digits points with 13 and added five rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Kayla Goldring picked up 10 points, seven rebounds and added three blocks. 

BECKER LEADERS
Cassidy Harrison led all scorers with 20 points, while Kelsey Maynard added 15 points off the bench. Ciara McKissick snatched six rebounds for the Hawks, while three different players picked up three assists for the visiting team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the opening period, both teams traded baskets as neither team had more than a three-point advantage. The second period saw NEC start to pull away. Shooting 53.3% from the field, compared to Becker's 25, the Pilgrims lead grew to as large as nine.
Coming out of the half, New England College continued their hot shooting from the field as the hosts outscored the Hawk 19-8 in the frame. In the final quarter, the Pilgrims continued to grow their lead as they controlled the glass and the paint. New England College finished the game on a 13-3 run over the last 3:41 of regulation.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the second-ever meeting between the two teams, New England College won the previous matchup on November 27th, 63-58.
- NEC controlled the paint, as the Pilgrims outscored Becker 32-12 in the paint and outrebounded them 42-14.
