GRINNELL, Iowa – In a huge reversal of fortune, the Grinnell College women's basketball team rallied from a 10-point third-period deficit in Friday night's contest against St. Norbert College.

But after the Pioneers went up in the fourth quarter, the Green Knights took off again to secure a 49-43 victory in Midwest Conference play at Darby Gymnasium.

Tyria Heath '21 led the way for Grinnell with 18 points and four rebounds, while Aidan Coalson added six boards and a career-best two steals. Sofia Ahooja'22 hit a pair of 3-pointers while scoring 10 points and dishing out three assists. Sasha Thomas '22 added two steals.

St. Norbert's point total is the second lowest allowed by Grinnell this season. The Pioneers are now 4-8 in the league and 6-12 overall, while St. Norbert moved to 5-6 in the MWC and 6-12 in all games.

Grinnell fell behind midway through the first period before closing the quarter with a seven-point run as Heath made a layup, Olivia Woolam '21 drained a 3-pointer and Ahooja scored in the waning seconds for a 13-7 Pioneer lead.

The Green Knights rallied for a 22-18 halftime edge and built a 33-23 lead midway through the third period. It was still a nine-point lead before Grinnell went on an 11-1 run over the next five minutes to take command.

Ahooja made a 3-pointer and the Green Knights earned a free throw to provide the visitors a 36-29 lead after three quarters. Heath began the fourth period with two layups and a free throw to make it a 36-34 game. Following a steal by Kate Tomczik '22, Heath swished a 3-pointer to put the Pioneers up 37-36 with 6:51 left.

However, the Green Knights answered with an 11-point run and Grinnell couldn't counter to give the visitors the win.

The Pioneers are back at it Saturday when Ripon College visits Darby Gymnasium Saturday. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
