Keuka College Runs Past St. Elizabeth 80-51

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team had a strong Saturday, defeating the College of St. Elizabeth in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game 80-51 at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

Keuka College (13-3, 8-0 NEAC) was led by Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) with 20 points. Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) tied her season-high with nine assists and Sarah Tyler (Newark, N.Y. / Newark) scored 12 for the Wolves. Riley Record (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) and Brianna Legacy (Bennington, Vt. / Mount Anthony Union) each had 11 points and Jariah Johnson (New York, N.Y. / Frederick Douglas Academy) finished with a game-high 14 rebounds.

After a slow start, the game opened up with both teams running the floor. The Wolves shot 58.8% from the floor in the first as they grew their lead. Keuka College closed the half with six straight points, including a buzzer-beating three by Riley Record as the Wolves led 22-11 after one.

Kekua College dominated the second quarter. They held the Eagles to just 1-13 from the field. The Green and Gold scored the first 15 points of the quarter, not allowing a point until the 3:05 mark of the second. In total, Keuka outscored St. Elizabeth 21-5 in the frame and led 43-16 at the half.

The Eagles came out and scored the first six points of the second half, but Keuka was able to withstand the run and maintained a large margin. In total, the Eagles outscored the Wolves 15-10 in the third, but Keuka let 53-31 going to the fourth quarter.

Keuka College had their best shooting quarter of the game in the final frame. The Wolves went 9-12 from the floor including 2-3 from deep as Keuka continued onto the 80-51 conference victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Green and Gold will now prepare for a tough test at SUNY Poly on Wednesday. The Wolves defeated the Wildcats 60-50 on Sweet Court earlier this season. The two teams sit atop the North Eastern Athletic Conference standings.
