WAYNE, N.J. – Despite four Pioneers posting double-digit scoring outputs, the William Paterson women's basketball team (9-9, 5-6 NJAC) could not overcome its first half scoring struggles during a 74-62 setback against Rutgers-Camden (11-7, 6-5 NJAC) Jan. 19

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • CeCe Green (Boonton, N.J./Boonton) scored eight straight points as WP built an early 12-4 advantage midway through the first quarter. Costly turnovers and poor shooting kept the Pioneers scoreless for nearly 11 minutes as the Scarlet Raptors built a 37-22 lead at the break.
  • WP opened the second stanza with a 12-4 run to cut the deficit to seven (41-34, 6:00), but RUC used its own 14-5 burst to open a 16-point cushion (55-39) heading into the final quarter. WP would make it a 10-point contest (70-60) but get no closer as the Scarlet Raptors came away with the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) road win.
