Kaia Porter and Hannah Spaulding combined to record 21 points and 17 rebounds inside, but No. 4-ranked St. Thomas relied on defense Saturday to take a 49-34 MIAC women's basketball road victory at Augsburg in a battle of conference co-leaders.

St. Thomas (14-1 overall, 8-0 MIAC) extended its win streak over conference opponents to 62 despite committing 22 turnovers. The Purple had a 33-28 rebounding edge and outscored Augsburg 18-9 from 3-point range.

Tamira McLemore had seven points to lead the Auggies (12-3, 7-1).

The Tommie defense helped hold Augsburg to 23-percent shooting from the floor and helped limit the host school to its lowest point total in an MIAC game in 16 seasons. Coach Ruth Sinn's Tommies have limited 10 of their 15 opponents under 56 points, and are allowing 49 points a game in conference play.

Lucia Renikoff scored nine points and Kaylie Brazil added eight for the Toms. Macy Hatlestad scored all seven of her points off the bench in the first half to help the Toms take a 27-16 halftime lead.
