Keuka College Defeats SUNY Poly 60-50

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team defeated SUNY Poly 60-50 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Wednesday.

Keuka College (8-3, 3-0 NEAC) was led by Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) with 20 points. Anten also led the Wolves with eight rebounds. Junior guard Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) finished with 12 points for the Wolves, along with seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Keuka College 60 vs. SUNY Poly 50

It took nearly two minutes for the first field goal to be made on Wednesday, with SUNY Poly taking the early lead and extending it out to 8-1. The Wolves made their first shot from the floor at 5:38 as Lauren Anten knocked down her first of four three-pointers in the game. That sparked an 8-0 run for the Wolves as they took the lead. The Wildcats snapped the run, but Keuka regained the lead and led 15-12 after one.

The lead for Keuka would not be given up for the remaining 30 minutes of play. SUNY Poly made it a one-possession game in second quarter, but the Wolves always remained ahead. Keuka outscored SUNY Poly 12-10 in the quarter and led 27-22 at the half.

Keuka College continued to play from ahead, outscoring SUNY Poly 15-11 in the third. In the fourth quarter, Keuka College shot the best of the game from the floor, shooting 46.7%. The Wolves closed out the 60-50 win over the Wildcats.

Keuka College will first face the Nittany Lions of Penn St.-Berks on Saturday. The Green and Gold will then travel to Williamsport to play the Penn College Wildcats on Sunday.
