BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team started the New Year right as it pulled off a convincing non-conference victory over Alfred State, 82-55, Wednesday at the KOA Arena.

After finding a wire-to-wire victory in its first action since Dec. 15, the Panthers improve to an even 5-5 on the season while Alfred State drops to 3-8.

"Although we started off slow, I was proud of the way we finished the game today," Head Coach Sharay Hall said. "First game back from break, I didn't expect to be the best, however, we held it together to pull out the win. I was extremely proud of the effort of Jenna Hicks today. She provided a must needed spark for us in today's game."


Five Panthers scored in double figures, highlighted by Jennifer Isenberg and Latifah Cain's game-best 18 points.

Isenberg also collected 10 boards for a double-double.

Shirleah Ragin was close behind with 17 points, Shaelyn Snipes dropped 13 points and Jasmin Miller contributed a career-high 12 points off the bench.

Dominant on the boards, Jenna Hicks collected a game-best 15 rebounds for the Panthers -- six of which coming on the offensive glass to help lead Pitt-Bradford to 25 second-chance points.

Additionally, Pitt-Bradford's 25 total offensive boards are the most the team has collected in a single game this season.

The Pitt-Bradford defense forced 22 Alfred State turnovers while the offense turned it over just eight times -- the fewest by the Panthers in a single game so far this season.

The Panthers also forced a 27.9 shooting percentage (19-68), which is tied for the lowest a team has shot against the Panthers all season and the 19 made field goals are the second-fewest allowed by the Panthers in a single game in 2018-19.

Pitt-Bradford finished the first quarter with a 20-17 advantage and eventually widened the deficit in the second and took a 41-32 lead into the half.

Highlighted by three-pointers from Miller and Snipes, the Panthers put together their highest-scoring quarter of the game with 23 points in the third.

They then held Alfred State to just eight points in the closing period and completed the victory.

The 82 points scored by the Panther offense are the second-most the team has scored all season.

In addition to dropping 18 points, Cain dished a game-best five assists, grabbed two steals and turned the ball over just once in 38 minutes as the Panther point guard.

Isenberg led the way with a pair of blocked shots while Hicks, Ragin and Etreece Adams sent an attempt away apiece for five total blocks.

Pitt-Bradford will return to action Saturday hosting Mount Aloysius at 2 p.m.
