SUNY Cortland Upends Keuka College in Women’s Basketball

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost at home on David M. Sweet Court Tuesday night to SUNY Cortland 55-48.

Keuka College (4-3) was led by Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) with 14 points. Riley Record (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) added 11 points and Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) finished with 10 for the Wolves.

SUNY Cortland 55 at Keuka College 48

It was a slow start to the game on Tuesday with the two teams combining to go 5-31 in the opening quarter. The Wolves scored the final six points of the quarter to lead 9-5 after one.

SUNY Cortland came out fast in the second, scoring 12 of the first 14 points in the quarter. Riley Record knocked down a three for Keuka midway to the second to cut the Wolves' margin to three, 17-14. Keuka tied the game late in the half but SUNY Cortland made a pair of late free throws to take a 24-22 lead into halftime.

Keuka College had their best quarter of the game in the third. The Green and Gold opened the second half on an 8-0 run to take a 30-24 lead. The Red Dragons responded and made a layup with seconds left in the third, but the Wolves maintained a 37-36 lead going into the final quarter.

SUNY Cortland took the lead early in the fourth quarter. Leading 43-42, the Red Dragons scored six unanswered to extend their lead. The Wolves cut the lead to three, but that would be as close as it would get as the Wolves fell to the Red Dragons 55-48.
