Riley Record Nets Career-High in Come-From-Behind Keuka College Victory

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. — The Keuka College Women's Basketball team came from behind to defeat Cazenovia College 76-67 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Riley Record (Palmyra, N.Y. / Palmyra-Macedon) led Keuka College (4-2, 1-0 NEAC) behind a career-high five three-pointers and 32 total points. Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) added 20 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Also finishing in double figures for the Wolves was senior Abby Hess (Cortland, N.Y. / Cortland) with 10 points.

Keuka College 76 at Cazenovia College 67

After a slow start, Keuka College got a jumper by Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) to tie the game at 7-7 midway through the opening quarter. The Wolves would take the lead, but the Wildcats tied it and made a late basket to lead 16-13 after 10 minutes of play.

Arianna DeNault (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) quickly tied the game with a three-pointer on Keuka's first possession of the quarter. Cazenovia responded and pushed their lead to seven points at 25-18, forcing Keuka into a timeout. Despite a basket after the break, Cazenovia responded with a three to push the lead to eight points. Keuka College cut into the lead in the final minutes and only trailed by three, 32-29, at the half.

To start the second half, Keuka made a basket on their first possession. The Wolves then stole the ball and Anten knocked down a jumper to take a 33-32 lead. The Wildcats reestablished a five-point lead, but Keuka kept fighting. A three by Riley Record gave Keuka a 46-44 lead. She made a second on the next possession to push the lead to 49-44. The Wolves played with the lead for the remainder of the quarter and led 54-41 going to the fourth.

Cazenovia College used the long ball to stay in the game in the final quarter. The Wildcats made a three to take a 62-60 lead over the Wolves. Record had the answer for the Wolves with a three pointer to give Keuka a 63-62 lead with six minutes left to play. The Wolves would not surrender the lead for the remainder of the game. Keuka College continued on to defeat Cazenovia College 76-67.

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves face a tough non-conference test on Tuesday as the Wolves host SUNY Cortland at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center at 7pm. Keuka College lost by one at SUNY Cortland last year. The Wolves have not beaten the Red Dragons since the 1989-90 season.
