BRADFORD, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford women's basketball team pulled off a convincing victory in its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opener Wednesday, 82-63, against Medaille at the KOA Arena.

With the win, Pitt-Bradford improves to 1-4 overall and starts its AMCC season with a perfect 1-0 mark. Medaille drops to 1-5, 0-1 AMCC.

Shirleah Ragin broke out with a career-high 24 points including a trio of three-pointers to lead the Panthers.

Shaelyn Snipes (15), Jennifer Isenberg (13) and Latifah Cain (11) also scored in double-figures for Pitt-Bradford.

Pitt-Bradford's stifling defense forced 28 Medaille turnovers. Isenberg and Ragin had five steals apiece.

The Panthers were plus-17 in turnover margin, losing the ball just 11 times.

A high-scoring affair, both teams shot a near equal percentage from the floor, with the Panthers narrowly edging the Mavericks 46.6 percent to 46.3 percent. The two teams also connected on six three-pointers apiece.

The Panthers' offense came out strong in the first period, connecting on 11 of 22 attempts and a pair of three-pointers from Ragin and Jasmin Miller.

Pitt-Bradford rode six Etreece Adams points in the period to take a 25-18 lead into the second.

Medaille found its stroke in the second, knocking down eight field goals on 10 attempts for 20 points.

But, Ragin caught fire for Pitt-Bradford and scored nine points in the period and the Panthers extended its lead to take a 46-38 advantage into the half.

The Panthers continued their strong offense into the second half, scoring 18 points in each of the final periods to close out Medaille, 82-63.

Jenna Hicks was the team's leading rebounder with six boards, five of which coming in the second half.

Cain dished out five assists to lead the squad and Isenberg blocked four shots.

Up next, Pitt-Bradford will look to start conference play with two-straight wins as it heads to Penn State-Behrend Saturday for its first AMCC road contest.
