William Paterson Women’s Basketball Falls in NJAC Tournament Opener at Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The fifth-seeded William Paterson women's basketball team (14-12, 11-7 NJAC) stayed close to fourth-seeded Rowan (16-9, 12-6 NJAC) through three quarters, but the Profs pulled away late for a 67-48 victory Feb. 17 during the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament.

 

Senior forward Tori Woetzel and junior guard Julie Rovito each posted 12 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Junior guard CeCe Green pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds.

 

Trailing 30-23 at halftime, the Pioneers cut into the deficit during the third quarter, scoring seven straight points to get within three at 35-32 with 3:01 on the clock. Down by just three (39-36) heading into the fourth, WP saw Rowan open the quarter with a 16-2 burst to seize control at 55-38 with 6:30 remaining.

 

Senior guard Summer Crilley led four Profs in double figures with 21 points, adding 11 rebounds and four steals. Senior guard/forward Alex Raring chipped in 15 tallies and four steals.
