Wheaton (Ill.) runs winning streak to 14 games with 62-39 victory at Carroll

Waukesha, Wisconsin - The Thunder women's basketball team rolled to a 62-39 victory at Carroll University (7-16, 4-10 CCIW) on Wednesday night. Wheaton is now 20-4 on the season with a 13-2 record in conference play. The victory gives Wheaton its fourth-consecutive 20-win season, the longest streak of consecutive 20-win seasons in program history. Tonight's victory stretched Wheaton's current win streak to 14 games, the longest for the program since a 14-game win-streak in 2004-05.

Senior Maggie Dansdill led the Thunder with a game-high 14 points. Sophomore Hannah Frazier contributed 12 points with five rebounds and two steals. Jill Berg shot 4-for-4 from the field and was 4-of-4 at the free throw line to score 12 points and she added four blocked shots.

Kelly Lawson distributed eight assists with two steals. The Thunder senior added six points and five rebounds. Jordan Myroth scored six points, with four rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.

Devin Kyler led all players with eight rebounds and she added three assists. Jennifer Berg grabbed six rebounds.

The Thunder led by as many as six points in the first quarter with a 13-7 Wheaton lead with 4:20 left in the opening quarter. The guests led 15-12 at the conclusion of the opening quarter.

Wheaton compiled an impressive second quarter, out-scoring the Pioneers 18-7. The strong quarter allowed the Thunder to hold a 33-19 lead at the halftime intermission.

Wheaton led by as 21 points in the third quarter, however, the hosts chipped away to cut the Thunder lead to 45-32 at the conclusion of the third quarter.

Wheaton returned to domination in the fourth quarter, as the Thunder out-scored Carroll 17-7 in the final quarter. The Thunder led by as many as 28 points in the final quarter in a 62-34 lead with 3:10 remaining in the game.

The Thunder shot 41.7% (25-of-60) from the field, including 27.3% (6-of-22) behind the three-point arc. Carroll posted a 25.5% (13-of-51) field goal percentage, including 21.4% (3-for-14) from three-point range. Wheaton shot 66.7% (6-of-9) at the free throw line and the Pioneers had a 58.8% (10-for-17) effort at the charity stripe. The guests out-rebounded Carroll 46-31, including an 11-6 advantage for Wheaton on the offensive glass.

Wheaton closes out the regular season Saturday night in King Arena as North Central visits the Thunder for a 5:00 p.m. tipoff.
