Rowan Women's Basketball Closes Regular Season With Fourth Straight Win, 71-47 At Ramapo

MAHWAH, NJ – The Rowan University women's basketball team picked up its fourth straight victory, 71-47 at conference foe Ramapo College in the regular season finale on Wednesday night.

 

The Profs are 15-9 overall and finish the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) schedule with a 12-6 mark. Rowan is the fourth seed in the conference tournament and hosts fifth-seeded William Paterson University in the first round on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. The Roadrunners end the year with a 7-18 record and they went 4-14 in the NJAC.

 

Guard Dominique Peters (so. Lawrenceville, NJ/Lawrence) led Rowan with 16 points. Center April Szymczyk (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) posted 12 points. Guard/forward Alex Raring (sr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) and forward Paige Caldwell (fr. Bridgeton, NJ/Woodstown) produced nine and eight points respectively. Guard Summer Crilley (sr. Galloway, NJ/Holy Spirit) contributed with seven points, eight rebounds and four steals.

 

Ramapo guard Jina Crawford (sr. New City, NY/Paramus Catholic) tallied 15 points and eight rebounds. Centers Jessica Repasy (so. Fredon, NJ/Kittatinny) and Alie Wickersheim (so. Maywood, NJ/Hackensack) and forward Jenna Harsh (so. Metuchen, NJ/Bishop Ahr) each had six points. Center Tia Solomon (jr. Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) grabbed six boards.

 

The Profs outscored the Roadrunners, 19-0 in the first quarter to begin the game. Five different players contributed to the run, led by Raring and Szymczyk with six points apiece. Rowan did not trail for the remainder of the contest. Its largest lead was 27 (31-4) with 3:55 to go in the second. The closest Ramapo came was 15 points at two different points in the third stanza.
