Bearcats fall to #4 Thomas More

The SVC women's basketball team fell to #4-ranked Thomas More College by a score of 75-47 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play in the Carey Center.

The Saints scored the game's first six points before SVC got on the board at the 7:52 mark of the first quarter, with Babette Sanmartin scoring on a jumper.  After Sanmartin added a pair of free throws to make it a 2-point game, the Saints tallied the contest's next 10 points to take a 14-4 lead.
 
A baseline drive by Taylor Boring got SVC back on the board, but the Saints scored the final four points of the quarter to take an 18-6 lead at the first break.  Thomas More took advantage of strong free throw shooting, making 6-of-7 in the first quarter.
 
Boring hit the Bearcats' first three-pointer of the night early in the second quarter to make it a 20-9 game, but three outside shots from the Saints, including two from Madison Temple, helped run the lead to 30-12 near the midway point of the second quarter.
 
SVC got the final points of the quarter on a fast break layup by Maria Morgan, cutting the gap to 38-23 as the teams went into the locker room.  
 
The visitors scored the first 5 points of the second half to increase the lead to 20.  A jumper by Paige Montroseat the 6:15 mark made it a 16-point game, 43-27, but the Saints ran the lead back to 22 by the end of the quarter, 59-37.
 
Neither team scored for more than three minutes to start the fourth quarter, and the first field goal came at 6:38 on a jumper by Montrose to make it 60-39.  Boring later his a pair of threes, but the Saints countered, taking a 66-45 lead with 4:22 remaining after another three by Temple.

From there the Saints, undefeated in the PAC, rolled to their 17th straight win in conference play this year.  SVC is now 13-4 in the conference.

Abby Owings led all scorers with 17 for the Saints, while Temple scored 16.  Boring led the Bearcats with 13 points, while Benvenuti added 7 points and 7 rebounds.
