Geistfeld Gets 14 In Loss to CC

More news about: Hamline

Reilly Geistfeld is apparently tireless. The Hamline sophomore has been on the Hutton Arena court basically nonstop since the start of volleyball practice in August.  (She appeared in 30 matches, playing a total opf 84 sets.) However, you would have never known it Wednesday night. Geistfeld played 32 minutes and scored a team high 14 points and eight rebounds in the Pipers' 65-49 loss to Concordia at Hutton Arena. Kaeli Stayer added 10 and Aly Sartain chipped in with six rebounds for Hamline, now 4-20 overall, 3-14 in the MIAC.

The game was much closer than the final score indicated. HU trailed by just 52-47 with four minutes left when the Cobbers hit three three-pointers as part of a game closing 13-2 run that led to the final score. HU grabbed a 4-2 lead in the first four minutes of play. CC responded with a rush and led, 17-6, at the quarter. The Pipers came back to within three points in the second quarter before going to the locker room down 28-23. The Cobbers pushed it out to 44-34 after three stanzas. Molly Wampler, who leads all D-III free throw shooters with a . 936 percentage (73-78) hit a pair of tosses to make it 49-45 with 5:26 left. That was close as the Pipers could get.

Hamline finishes the season Saturday, February 17 at St. Mary's. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
