Rowan Women's Basketball Snaps Skid With 93-31 Win At New Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Rowan University women's basketball team ended its three-game losing streak with a 93-31 victory at New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game on Saturday.

 

The Profs have a 12-9 record and they are 9-6 in the conference. The Gothic Knights drop to 0-17 with a 0-15 NJAC mark. Center April Szymczyk (sr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) led Rowan with a game-high 18 points. Guard Summer Crilley (sr. Galloway, NJ/Holy Spirit) produced 15 points and six assists while guard Olivia Rulon (jr. Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Alex Raring (sr. Linwood, NJ/Mainland Reg.) tallied nine points, four assists and three steals. Forward Kailyn Sytsma (so. Northvale, NJ/Northern Valley Old Tappan) contributed with eight boards. The Profs shot 55 percent, including 11-of-24 from three-point range.

 

Guard Jesenia Montalvo (jr. Hillside, NJ/Bayonne) totaled 13 points and five steals for NJCU. Forward/center Gianna Benacquista (fr. Belleville, NJ/Belleville) compiled 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Center Melissa Etienne (so. Maplewood, NJ/Columbia) chipped in with eight boards.

 

The Profs return home to face Kean University on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m.
