The nationally ranked Hope College women's basketball team rebounded swiftly and decisively — stifling Kalamazoo College for a 64-30 road victory on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch put together their second-best defensive effort of the season en route to their 19th victory in 20 tries this season.

Hope — ranked sixth in both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and D3hoops.com poll — improved to 10-1 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play and remained one-half game behind Trine.

The 30 points allowed the second-fewest yielded by the Flying Dutch this season. They gave up 27 to Saint Mary's on January 17.

Offensively, junior forward Francesca Buchanan of Grant, Michigan (Sparta HS) scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the first half to lift Hope to a 34-20 halftime lead.
