NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Sophomore guard Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind.) recorded double-digit scoring totals for a fifth straight outing and the 15th time in 18 chances this season, leading Manchester University Saturday, Jan. 27.
Weaver tallied 12 points, dished off a pair of assists and picked up a steal in 27 minutes of action. Another sophomore guard, Haley Farris (Sharpsville, Ind.) wasn't far off pace for a double-double for the Spartans, either, with seven points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists in 27 minutes. However, from that point on, it was a story of cold shooting inside Stauffer-Wolfe Arena and a balanced effort from visiting Mt. St. Joseph University led to a 65-40 Lions' Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory. MU, falling to 5-14 overall and 4-8 in the league, finished under 25 percent overall but was especially tepid from outside the arc, hitting on just two of 21 attempts.
The Black and Gold take to the road Wednesday, Jan. 31, facing a critical clash at Franklin College. Tip-off time is 7:30 p.m. at the Spurlock Center between a pair of programs separated by just a game for sixth on the loop standings.
