Ramlochan Posts Doubled Double Against CLU

LOS ANGELESAlyssa Ramlochan had a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

But the Occidental women's basketball team fell to Cal Lutheran 54-51 at Rush Gym on Wednesday.

The teams were tied at 45-45 with 2:04 to play in the fourth quarter when Natalie Ruhl hit a big 3-pointer to give Cal Lu some momentum. Shariah Green missed a jumper on Oxy's next possession and the Regals countered with a pair of free throws by Kiana Gray to push their lead to five points. 

Dru Ishibashi hit a big 3-pointer of her own with 1:13 to play, keeping the Tigers in the game and cutting the lead to 50-48.

Oxy had one last chance with 20 seconds to play, but Gray stole the ball, was fouled and made her free throws to win the game.

Gray led Cal Lu with 18 points. 

Green, Triana Anderson and Taylor Yoshida all chipped in seven points for the Tigers. 

The Tigers have been on the wrong side of some close games this season. Oxy's lost nine games by less than 10 points, and has lost four conference games by three points or less.

Season Impact: Oxy falls to 8-10 overall and 3-7 in SCIAC.

Cal Lutheran improves to 11-7 and 6-3.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. against La Verne.
