(GREENVILLE, Pa.) – The fifth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team extended its winning streak to 16 games tonight (Wednesday, January 24, 2018) as it defeated Thiel College, 90-50, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Beeghly Gymnasium in Greenville, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 17-1 overall and remain undefeated at 11-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Tomcats fall to 3-15 overall and 2-9 in the PAC.

Thomas More never trailed in the game as it led 28-14 after one quarter and then led 46-19 at halftime and 84-29 after three quarters.  The Saints had a 42-6 advantage in points in the paint, 27-6 in points off turnovers and 17-4 on second chance points.  Thomas More's bench also out-scored Thiel's, 34-6.

Four Saints finished in double-figure scoring led by senior forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Spring, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) with 16 points.  Joining her in double-figures was junior guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) with 15 points and senior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) and sophomore forward Emily Schultz (Melbourne, Ky./Bishop Brossart) with 11 points each.  Junior forward Shelby Rupp (Milan, Ind./Batesville) led the team on the boards with eight rebounds, while Kiernan and Temple each pulled down six rebounds.  Owings led the team in assists with five.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (January 27) when it travels to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to play Chatham University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Athletic & Fitness Center.
