WENHAM, Mass. -- A 10-0 run in the middle of the 4th quarter broke up a tied game and sent the University of New England towards a 71-63 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball win over Gordon College on Wednesday night (Jan. 24) at the Bennett Center.

The Nor'easters (13-4, 9-1 CCC) led for the majority of the contest, including six-point cushions after the 1st and 2nd periods. The Fighting Scots (6-12, 4-7 CCC) briefly grabbed a 37-34 edge in the 3rd, behind nine unanswered points, only to see UNE return with a 12-4 stretch to go up 48-44 with 10 minutes remaining.

Meghan Foley twice brought Gordon even (50-50, 53-53) during the final frame -- part of her 11 points in the quarter -- but the Nor'easters immediately countered with the deciding stretch that held Gordon scoreless until the 2:06 mark (span of 4:16).

Ashley Coneys paced UNE with 16 points, and Kristie McNall hit 4-of-7 from deep to add 14 points. Jocelyn Chaput and Elyssa Nicholas went for 13 and 10 points, respectively, while Olivia Shaw posted nine points, a career-high 18 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocks.

The Nor'easters overcame 30 percent field-goal accuracy and 13 missed free throws (20-of-33) by canning seven addition three-pointers (11-4) compared to the Fighting Scots. UNE also turned 18 offensive boards into 24 second-chance points.

Foley and Sarah Gibbs each recorded double-doubles for the home team; Foley totaled a game-high 20 points with 10 caroms, and Gibbs notched 15 and 11.

With the regular-season sweep of Gordon, the Nor'easters have now captured the last 23 meetings between the squads dating back to 2006.
