BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomore Alex Goslin (South Windsor, Conn.) paced four players in double figures with 15 points as visiting Springfield College defeated Babson College, 63-56, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Staake Gymnasium.

Babson, which had its three-game winning streak snapped, falls to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in conference play, while Springfield improves to 13-5 and 7-2 in the NEWMAC.

Junior Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, N.Y.) scored a team-high 13 points, while classmate Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) added 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Beavers. Fellow junior Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) chipped in with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting in the loss.

Junior Chelsea McAllister (Baltimore, Vt.) had 14 points, sophomore Emily Jacques (Auburn, Maine) scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and junior Gracie Restituyo (Barrington, R.I.) added a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards for the Pride.

The Green and White dug out of an early 7-0 deficit to take its first lead at 14-13 in the closing seconds of the first quarter when Ouimette capped a five-point possession with two free throws. Babson took its biggest lead of the game at 27-24 on a three-pointer by Lane with 3:30 to go in the second, but Springfield responded by closing the half with a 7-2 run to take a 31-27 advantage into the locker room.

The Pride, which extended the margin to eight on three occasions in the third quarter took its biggest lead of the game at 46-36 on a jumper by McAllister with 47 seconds to go in the frame. Lane and junior Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) knocked down back-to-back triples to open the fourth quarter, and the Beavers got as close as 50-49 after Tamulionis converted two straight steals with 5:43 remaining.

Springfield answered though, producing points on four of its next five possessions to push the lead back to 58-51 on a layup by Goslin with 2:45 to go. Babson, which was held to just one field goal over the final five minutes, could only get as close as six in the final minute.

Babson returns to action next Saturday when it visits Mount Holyoke at 1 p.m., while Springfield hosts WPI on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
