DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team played host to five-time defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom champion FDU-Florham on Saturday and dropped a 68-42 decision.

The Devils improved their mark to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in league games while the Aggies fell to 5-12 and 2-4.

The first half was a tale of two quarters as FDU dominated the first stanza by shooting 56.3 percent from the field and outscoring DelVal, 25-3. However, it was the Aggies who came out in the second quarter and went on a 15-2 run to pull within nine, 27-18. Monika Smallwood and Ashley Smink each had six points during the spurt.

DelVal pulled to within seven when Morgan Mitchell fed Amber Grohowski inside for a layup that made it 29-22 with just over three minutes left before the half. The Devils then scored five straight down the stretch to take a 34-22 advantage into the locker room.

Danielle Skedzielewski opened the half with a 3-pointer off an assist from Mitchell to make it a nine-point game, but that is the closest the Aggies would get the rest of the way. The two teams combined for just 19 points in the third quarter with FDU holding a 12-7 edge to take a 46-29 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Devils used a 16-2 run in the beginning of the final stanza to ultimately pull away, en route to the 68-42 final.
