PURCHASE (NY) –Delaware Valley University saw its two-game, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom winning streak come to an end on Wednesday as the visiting Aggies suffered a 75-47 setback at Manhattanville College.


The Valiants upped their record to 12-2 overall and a 3-1 in league action while DelVal, coming off home wins over Wilkes University and Misericordia University last week, fell to 5-11 and 2-3.


A Danielle Skedzielewski 3-pointer in the early going gave the Aggies a 5-3 lead before Manhattanville scored seven consecutive points and never trailed again. The Valiants held a 15-11 advantage the first quarter and used a 22-12 second for a 14-point halftime lead. They were up by as many as 20 in the third quarter and 30 in the fourth thanks to a combined 55 percent shooting from the field in the half.


Individually, Manhattanville was led by Sarah Coutu's 16 points. Nancy Caballero had 12 points and 11 rebounds.


For DelVal, Ashley Smink scored 13 points, including a 7-for-8 effort from the foul line. Monika Smallwood hit double figures with 10 points while Amber Grohowski and Morgan Mitchell had seven and six points respectively. Lauren Moretti came off the bench to add six points and Skedzielewski, the reigning MAC Freedom Player of the Week, had five points.


The Aggies will host five-time defending MAC Freedom champion FDU-Florham on Saturday, January 20 (1 p.m.).
