STANDISH, Maine --  Juniors Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) and Hannah Marks (Waldoboro, Maine) each scored 14 points and combined for eight three-pointers to lead Saint Joseph's (Maine) to an 82-45 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Mount Ida Tuesday evening at the Harold Alfond Center.

 

The host Monks (14-1, 7-0 GNAC) extended their winning streak to 13 straight by jumping out to an early nine point lead (18-9) and using a 12-2 run over the final 2:50 of the opening quarter to grab a 30-11 advantage after 10 minutes of play, and Saint Joseph's scored 18 of the first 22 points of the second stanza to take a 53-21 edge at the break.  The Monks saw 11 of their 12 players dressed for the contest score at least two points on the night, as McNamara collected 10 assists to finish with a double-double effort for the hosts.

 

Marks grabbed five rebounds in the win for Saint Joseph's, which received 10 points from junior Julia Champagne (Brunswick, Maine).  Senior Brianne Maloney (South Portland, Maine) chipped in with nine points and five rebounds for the Monks, who received seven points from senior Emily DeLuca (Gorham, Maine) along with six points each and a combined seven boards from junior Emily Benway (Rochester, N.H.) and sophomore Lexi L'Heureux-Carland (Bridgton, Maine).  The hosts shot 52 percent (32-62) from the field overall and connected for nine three-pointers in the contest, as Saint Joseph's held a 47-28 rebounding advantage and recorded 26 assists.

 

Senior Imani Bumpus (Dedham, Mass.) and sophomore Valerie Martin (Derry, N.H.) each scored 10 points and combined for five rebounds in the setback for the visiting Mustangs (8-6, 1-4 GNAC), who received nine points from senior Jaime Moscato (Taunton, Mass.).  Senior Breanna Muir (Wareham, Mass.) notched eight points, six rebounds and three assists for Mount Ida, which shot 30 percent (18-60) from the floor overall and made just 4-of-29 attempts from behind the arc.

 

Both teams will take on Anna Maria in their next respective Great Northeast Athletic Conference outings, as Mount Ida hosts the Amcats on Thursday afternoon at the Athletic Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. while Saint Joseph's welcomes Anna Maria to the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
