Oberlin, Ohio - Ninth-ranked DePauw extended its win streak to 12 and improved to 16-1 overall and 8-0 in North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 53-40 win at Oberlin. The Yeowomen dropped to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the NCAC.
The Tigers never trailed in the game and outscored Oberlin 11-3 over the final four minutes of the opening frame to take a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. The hosts tailed by nine in the second, but DePauw held them scoreless over the final five minutes of the half and took a 30-15 advantage into the intermission.
The teams played a fairly even third quarter with DePauw expanding its lead to 17 at 44-27 after three before the Yeowomen opened the final quarter with a 5-0 run and eventually trimmed the lead to nine at 49-40. The Tigers wrapped up the win with Sydney Kopp's layup and two free throws by Claire Keefe in the final minute.
Keefe paced DePauw with 18 points, while Kopp posted her first collegiate double-double with 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Tyler Parlor led Oberlin with 11 points and Maggie Gross followed with 10.
The Tigers shot a season-low 29.8 percent from the field to Oberlin's 28.8 percent, but DePauw held a commanding 53-29 lead on the boards and grabbed 16 on the offensive glass to the Yeowomen's three. In addition to Kopp's 13 rebounds, Melinda Franke hauled down 10.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, January 20, when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
