BOSTON, Mass. --  Sophomore Yuleska Ramirez-Tejeda (South Boston, Mass.) posted a double-double effort of 23 points, 15 rebounds and three assists to lead Emmanuel to a 100-66 Great Northeast Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Mount Ida Thursday evening on Andy Yosinoff Court.

 

The host Saints (6-6, 2-1 GNAC) scored the game's first 14 points and built a 30-11 lead after the opening quarter of action, as Emmanuel shot 53 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes to play to take a 53-29 advantage at the break and never led by less than 20 points in the second half.

 

Junior Madison McLaughlin (Westerly, N.Y.) added 16 points and 11 assists in the triumph for the Saints, who received 14 points, five steals and four rebounds from sophomore Kayla Weaver (West Haven, Conn.) along with 14 points from senior Alisha Fox (National Park, N.J.).  Sophomore Caitlin Cipriano (Waterbury, Conn.) rounded a quintet of double-figure scorers with 12 points, six boards and four blocks for Emmanuel, which saw 10 of its 14 dressed players score at least two points.  The hosts finished the night shooting at a 53 percent clip (42-80) overall, as the Saints dished out 30 assists and held a 51-31 rebounding advantage for the contest.

 

Sophomore Valerie Martin (Derry, N.H.) scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds and recorded three assists in the setback for the visiting Mustangs (8-5, 1-3 GNAC), who received 15 points and six boards from senior Imani Bumpus (Dedham, Mass.).  Seniors Patricia Liotta (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) and Breanna Muir (Wareham, Mass.) each scored eight points while combining for six rebounds and five assists for Mount Ida, which received five caroms from freshman Melody Millett (Naples, Maine).  The visitors shot 34 percent (20-59) overall and connected for eight three-pointers on the night but hurt themselves with 27 turnovers that were converted into 32 points.

 

Mount Ida hosts Norwich in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference clash on Saturday afternoon at the Athletic Center that tips-off at 1:00 p.m., while Emmanuel heads to Paxton, Mass. on Tuesday evening to square off with Anna Maria in a GNAC outing beginning at 7:30 p.m.
